Set in an island paradise during World War II, two parallel love stories are threatened by the dangers of prejudice and the encroaching war. Nellie, a nurse from Arkansas, falls in love with the mature French planter Emile. And Liat, daughter of the colorful local "philosopher" Bloody Mary, captures the heart of Lt. Joe Cable USMC. With an outstanding musical score throughout, the drama unfolds.
