This is the love story of a retired professor, tart-tongued, observant and as eager for life as ever, and his wife, who is his perfect foil, delighting in all the small things that have enriched their long life together. Returning to their summer home on Golden Pond for the forty-fourth year, they find themselves caring for and learning from a teenage boy left in their care.
