Our 2008 Season

Fifty Years of Applause & Cheers!

In 1958, a carriage barn, which was the last ruminants of the John Huntington estate, was going to be torn down by the Cleveland Parks Commission which we now call the Cleveland Metroparks.  Hap Brown felt that there was still life in the old barn and proposed it become a summer community theatre.  And so Huntington Playhouse began its journey.

As we look forward to the start of our 50th anniversary, we are humbled by the support the greater Cleveland community has given the theatre over the years.  We are here today because that support never wavered.

Our 50th anniversary season will feature great shows and opportunities to celebrate our golden anniversary.  Our children’s theatre program will expand to offer a spring session as well as our very popular summer theatre camps.  You can get information and a registration form for the program through our link here.

In November the theatre will sponsor a bus tour to New York City to see two Broadway musicals and explore “the town so nice …they named it twice”.  Details on that trip will be available shortly.  Tour dates are Nov. 6th to Nov. 9th.

We have just started the audition process for the opening musical “Nunsensations”. This is yet another installment of the “Nunsense” story with the Sisters from Hoboken, New Jersey going out to Las Vegas to perform in a casino lounge.  This very funny show is directed by Kevin Joseph Kelly.

The fun starts May 8, 2008.  Don’t be left out!!

See you at the theatre.
